Dr Rahul Nayar is a Consultant and Clinical Lead for Diabetes and Endocrinology at City Hospitals Sunderland. Dr Nayar’s specialist interests within diabetes include pregnancy, renal disease and diabetic foot disease. He is the Chair of the North East Diabetes foot Network. His research interests have included assay techniques for apolipoprotiens, barriers to effective diabetes management in south Asian patients and lower limb amputations in patients with diabetes and renal dysfunction.

His additional teaching commitment includes honorary lecturer at the University of Newcastle Medical School for undergraduates and the Wearside lead for Foundations of Clinical Practice.
